I love this long narrow format, and often will sign the painting both ways so that it can be hung either vertically or horizontally. I painted warm warm warm analogous colors first on a wet paper, then added fun gold (takes on a green tint in the photo) and white tissue papers. I actually started working on this one as a vertical presentation, but as I was adding the deep maroons and more gold metal papers, I saw the hills of California glimmering with GOLD back in the 1800s.
