Geraniums 11x15" poured watercolor © 2003 Kate Jackson

Walking into class at the college one afternoon, I couldn't help but be attracted to the bright red geraniums lining the path.  Geraniums are easy to paint realistically because your brush does most of the work. I had fun being inspired by the color first, and pouring the paint on a 1/4 sheet.  I actually painted the wilted leaves with color and pressed them onto the page until they dried, removed them and painted a very few brush strokes to complete the image!  My photo doesn't do the painting justice I'm afraid!  It is quite bright and cheerful.
